Just as the popularity of craft beer continued to soar through 2019, the COVID pandemic shuttered many small, locally-owned breweries throughout the nation and world.
Earlier this year, San Francisco’s own ThirstyBear Brewing Company closed with no date to reopen. A staple in San Francisco’s craft beer community since 1996, ThirstyBear was the city’s second-oldest craft brewery behind only Anchor Brewing, which dates to 1896.

2. Consider buying a growler.
Whether you buy one for yourself or give a growler as a gift, this beer container will open up a whole new world of craft beer consumption. Considered both ecologically and economically friendly, growlers can keep tap beer fresh for up to 10 days (if it lasts that long).
3. Grab and go.
If you don’t have a growler, consider buying craft beer directly from local breweries. Many sell cans and bottles to go. This works out great for guests on our tours since they can take beer back to their hotels or home-share rentals to enjoy for the duration of their time in the city.
